The Gudalur Adivasi Hospital, under the banner of ASHWINI (Association for Health Welfare in the Nilgiris), offers a 4-12 week medical students’ elective course on “Rural development” which is extremely beneficial for foreign medical and other paramedical students as a form of vacation study. The programme is organised by Association for Health Welfare in the Nilgiris (ASHWINI) and accredited by the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU). You will be enrolled in this programme and on successful completion of the course, a certificate will be awarded.

A structured program comprising clinical exposure, field visits, lectures, discussions around social issues. The objective is to observe and understand the health issues of marginalized communities, holistic approach to health and the optimization of health care in resource poor settings. Students will be encouraged to take up projects of their interest.

ASHWINI partners with the Tribal India Health Foundation, which is registered in the USA as a 501(c) Non-Profit Organization dedicated to supporting the development of health services for India’s most neglected citizens (EIN: 20-1502383). ASHWINI also partners with the UK Charity “From Here To There” (Charity No.1159988, Company No.07954264).
